Adam McGough is the President and CEO of Lone Star Resolutions. In over 20 years of mediation, Adam has successfully mediated over 1500 disputes and has trained over 1000 mediators. Adam’s civic engagements include serving on the Dallas City Council for 8 years including a term as the Deputy Mayor. He was the long-term Chair of Public Safety. He also Chaired the Transportation Committee, the Judicial Nominating Committee and the Committee for Recovery during the Covid pandemic. McGough was appointed to the Regional Transportation Council, Chairman of the Dallas Regional Mobility Coalition, and was elected to the Board of Directors for the National League of Cities. During his 8 years on Council, McGough served on more committee assignments than any other city elected official in the history of Dallas.
McGough has been honored as the Public Servant of the Year, the Law Enforcement Advocate of the year, the 2022 Public Safety Leader, the 2022 Regional Elected Official, the Dallas Business Journal 40 Under 40 and the Legacy Award Honoree from the Lake Highlands Chamber among many honors and accolades.
Before his time on Council, McGough served as the Chief of Staff for the Mayor of Dallas where he led GrowSouth and helped lead through the Ebola Crisis in Dallas. McGough was the Chief of Community Prosecution and Community Courts where he led the largest section of the Dallas City Attorney’s Office while expanding the program across the entire City. He is a former Special Assistant US Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, and he spent several years in private practice specializing in commercial litigation.
McGough is the former Director of Conflict Management for Dallas College where he trained, taught and spoke across the country on mediation, negotiation and disrupting conflict. Adam has served as the Chair of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section of the Dallas Bar Association as well as on the Boards of several organizations including the Texas Association of Mediators and the Association of Conflict Resolution.
McGough graduated from the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution with an LL.M. in Dispute Resolution specializing in Mediation. He earned his Juris Doctor from SMU Dedman School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin. In law school, Adam was on Law Review and was a Master Advocate on the Board of Advocates. In Austin, Adam was a Texas Delt and was involved in many service organizations and student leadership. McGough has earned several certificates from the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School and completed academic studies at Oxford University.
Adam was born and raised in Nacogdoches, Texas where he thrived in academics and athletics. Adam was part of the Red Devils Soccer team and began his spiritual formation as a member at North Street Church of Christ. McGough is married to his bride Lacy and has three boys Noah, Cooper & Eli. Adam enjoys traveling with Lacy and watching his boys play soccer and football across the globe.
