Adam McGough


Adam McGough is the Director of Conflict Management at El Centro College in Dallas, Texas where he teaches courses in Dispute Resolution, designs curriculum, facilitates training, and supervises developing mediators.  He also serves as the Deputy Chief of Community Prosecution for the Dallas City Attorney’s Office where he supervises a team of attorneys to improve the quality of life in some of the highest crime areas in the City of Dallas through creative problem solving, voluntary compliance, and litigation.  He has taught across the country as an Adjunct Professor at The Center for Dispute Resolution & Conflict Management at Southern Methodist University and at the University of San Francisco School of Law.    Adam earned a Masters of Law (LL.M.) in Dispute Resolution at the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine School of Law, a Juris Doctor ( J.D.) from the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University, and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in economics from the University of Texas at Austin.  Adam studied communications, dispute resolution, and comparative law internationally at University College in Oxford, England, and at the Universidad de Alicante, in Alicante, Spain.  Adam has completed extensive postgraduate studies in dispute resolution at Pepperdine, the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School, the University of Texas Center for Public Policy Dispute Resolution and SMU’s Center for Dispute Resolution and Conflict Management.
Adam has 8 years of litigation experience both in private practice and with the city, and he has mediated over 400 cases.    He is an active member of the State Bar of Texas and a member of the Pro Bono College of the State Bar of Texas. He is a trained chaplain for Lifeline Chaplaincy, providing compassionate support to the seriously ill, their family and caregivers; and is founding director and community activities director for Imagine Dallas Inc., a local nonprofit organization.

Adam serves on the Board of Directors for Dispute Mediation Services, Inc and for the Texas Association of Mediators.  He is a member of the ADR section of the Dallas Bar Association, Texas Bar Association, and  the American Bar Association; a member of the Texas Young Lawyers Association and Dallas Association of Young Lawyers; credentialed Distinguished Mediator with the Texas Mediator Credentialing Association; a member of the Texas Mediation Trainers Roundtable; and a member of the Association of Conflict Resolution.

Adam is blessed with two young boys and a loving wife.  He is active member at Prestoncrest Church of Christ in Dallas and is dedicated to serving others.
